Through the Mariposa Program, UNM Children's Hospital provides in-home hospice care for children with a terminal illness, as well as emotional support for families. The pediatric hospice specialists and trained volunteers provide medical care, respite services and grief counseling support for families throughout New Mexico. Services include home visits from nurses; home health aides and social workers; 24/7 medical care; medical equipment and supplies; pediatric pain management; annual memorial service for Mariposa Program families; grief and bereavement counseling; sibling support; connection to community resources; and volunteer respite care and companionship.

The Grief Center provides a safe space to discuss experiences and feelings by offering free support groups for bereaved children, teens, and adults. The Grief Center serves children starting at age 5, their caregivers, and bereaved adults.  Groups provide individuals with the chance to discuss their grief and learn coping skills and how to honor the memory of their important person along with others who are going through similar experiences.

Provides 24/7 crisis counseling line for anyone who has lost a baby. Grief support for those who have suffered a loss due to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and other sleep-related infant deaths and stillbirth.
