Description: Programs that promote and preserve the conditions that enable community residents to live in a safe and peaceful environment through the enforcement of laws that protect life and property and the administration of justice according to the principles of law and equity. Included are crime prevention programs as well as programs that investigate and make arrests for criminal behavior; provide support for witnesses to and victims of crimes; and provide for the arraignment, prosecution and defense, judgment, sentencing, confinement and eventual release and resettlement of offenders. Services Provided: The mission of Albuquerque Housing is to preserve the quality of housing owned and occupied by low and moderate- income families and to continue to expand and revitalize older neighborhoods within the City, Albuquerque Housing Services provides perpetual deferred loans and low interest loans to qualified low and moderate-income homeowners. The loans are made for the purpose of rehabilitating residential properties. Family income and family size determine the type of loan a person may qualify to receive. The money you receive must be used to pay for rehabilitation costs. These costs include: Labor and materials used to rehab your property and bring it up to City Code. The loan processing includes title search, insurance, appraisals, surveys and recording fees. The loan money cannot be used to pay for minor or cosmetic repairs or property taxes.

Services Provided: Volunteer Peer Counselors age 55 and up make supportive weekly home visits to other seniors who reside in Sandoval County. Peer counselors receive training in basic counseling techniques and mental health issues and receive monthly supervision from a licensed social worker. Counselors visit their clients approximately once a week and provide not only emotional support but also referrals to resources. The program director and volunteers also provide educational programs and discussion groups at senior sites around Sandoval County.
