Services Provided: Carrie Tingley Hospital is the only pediatric rehabilitation hospital in the state, housing a 24-bed inpatient unit in the Barbara and Bill Richardson Pavilion. We conduct more than 21 specialized clinics ranging in emphasis from brain and spinal cord injuries to development and neurological conditions to juvenile arthritis and clinical genetics. We also provide numerous therapy rooms, Gait labs, wheelchair evaluations, and braces or prosthetics.Children, particularly those with chronic conditions, need specialized healthcare focusing on their unique needs in a child-friendly place. Hospitalized children with chronic and often life-threatening diseases need quick, easy access to surgical and imaging services available at the Pavilion. And, this continuum of care extends to services available at UNM Children's Hospital, UNM Children's Psychiatric Center and UNM Hospital.

Goals:We positively impact the health of people with I/DD through advocacy, trainings, clinical services, policy reviews, and policy recommendations. We contribute to improving the quality of healthcare through clinical consultations and teaching of clinical services.We support ongoing improvements in the field by evaluating our efforts, incorporating new findings into our trainings and services, developing new research, and sharing our findings. It is estimated that 32,000 New Mexicans have a developmental disability. The range of these disabilities varies greatly. People with disabilities often encounter more challenges than others in the way health care is delivered to them, how they access it and the level of support services they need to stay healthy within the community.The Continuum of Care project grew out of the idea that health care services should be available and delivered in a comprehensive and coordinated manner from infancy to adulthood, assuring people with disabilities access to the full array of health services from a multidisciplinary approach. We promote health care professionals becoming more knowledgeable and competent in dealing with developmental disabilities and in delivering services in a culturally sensitive way that respects individuals preferences, honors personal values and promotes quality of life.

Services Provided: At the UNM Dental Hygiene Student Clinic, students are supervised by licensed dental faculty. Appointments generally run three hours long and additional appointments may be needed to complete therapy. Patients should call the appointment desk to inquire about clinic schedule. Services Provided: Young Children's Health Center (YCHC) is a community-based pediatric clinic that provides comprehensive health services to families with children from birth to young adulthood residing in the southeast heights of Albuquerque. Staff is bilingual Spanish/English in order to better serve the community. Special components of this clinic include home visitation to families with babies 0-36 months, behavioral health services, case management, and outreach activities to local schools and the community center, which includes gang prevention and intervention and other neighboring activities. Networking and collaboration with other community programs is a priority and strength of YCHC. Children with special healthcare needs and their families are offered the opportunity to participate in a "medical home" model of individualized care.This year we are expanding our services to include specialists in several fields including cardiology, dermatology, gastrointestinal and pulmonary. Services Provided: Provides Early Intervention Family-Infant-Toddler program services, funded by state so free to families with children between birth and age three who have delays and/or medical conditions. We provide PT/OT/SLP, developmental educators, and service coordination for these families. We also offer parent support/education groups, family counseling, and autism intervention. For adults with developmental and functional challenges, LifeROOTS offers day programs and literacy services on site, and supportive employment opportunities in the community. LifeROOTS, Inc provides safe, engaging,community integrated and services to the individuals it serves. Services are designed to assure opportunities to participate in community life and assume civic responsibilities, and to have opportunities for relationships with family and friends. Services Provided: Our health centers provide a safety net of medical care for thousands of New Mexicans of all ages. Everyone is eligible to receive PMS medical services. In addition to private pay, we accept Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance. For the uninsured, a sliding fee scale is available based on income.
