Services Provided: Volunteer Peer Counselors age 55 and up make supportive weekly home visits to other seniors who reside in Sandoval County. Peer counselors receive training in basic counseling techniques and mental health issues and receive monthly supervision from a licensed social worker. Counselors visit their clients approximately once a week and provide not only emotional support but also referrals to resources. The program director and volunteers also provide educational programs and discussion groups at senior sites around Sandoval County.

Services Provided: This program provides parenting educational services, child developmental guidance and local community resource information to families with children prenatal to three in the home or alternative locations at the familys request. Prenatal home visits provide information on health, nutrition, preparing for the birth of the child and child development. Information is also provided on attachment and relationship with infants, breastfeeding, impact of alcohol, tobacco and drugs on pregnancy, seatbelt use, birth control after pregnancy, premature labor, oral heath for mother and infant, folic acid, weight control and diabetes. All pregnant women are screened for depression and domestic violence issues. Families of children birth to three receive child developmental screenings, observation of attachment behaviors between infant/toddler and parent/caregiver, administration of a social support index to assist families with identifying informal support networks and administration of the PICCOLO to assist families with establishing positive interactions with their infants or toddlers. Referrals are provided to community agencies/services as necessary.

Services Provided: Rio Grande Counseling and Guidance Services provides a recovery-treatment services called an Intensive Outpatient Program. Participants engage in a three hour group treatment setting, three days each week. We are not an "inpatient" program, so everyone goes home at the end of each group session. Our treatment program uses an effective interactive curriculum called The Matrix Model, which takes approximately 12 to 16 weeks to complete. Unfortuneately there are no "short term" fixes.Participants are encouraged to improve their personal growth and recovery through self-awareness, interpersonal expression, and self-disclosure. Family and loved ones are encouraged to participate.Relapse Prevention skills are an importatn part of recovery. All participants are provided opportunities to practice these skills in our safe peer-group setting, and in their personal lives, with our support.Our Program will provide positive and encouraging alternatives to relapse.

Services Provided: The Family, Infant, Toddler FIT program provides a continuum of integrated developmental and therapeutic services to families who have concerns about the development of their young child ages birth to 3. FIT is part of a statewide program that provides early intervention services to infants and toddlers who have or are at risk for delays in development. This programs goal is to strengthen the capacity of families to meet the developmental and health-related needs of their infant or toddler. The FIT staff works with children and their families to achieve optimal physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development. Services include: Evaluation and assessment Developmental consultation and counseling Family education Home visits Community Resource Center of materials on child development Speech, occupational, and/or physical therapy Las Cumbres Adult Services division in Northern Rio Arriba County offers a number of integrated programs that provide employment, and day services opportunities to adults with developmental disabilities. Las Cumbres offers adults with developmental disabilities the opportunity to live as independently as possible while actively participating in community life. Services aim to enhance quality of life through improvements in the following areas: self-sufficiency exposure to a wide variety of life experiences involvement in their community health and safety ability to develop social relationships self-confidence problem-solving and conflict resolution skills Individuals receive staff assistance at whatever level they need and prefer in consonance with their personal needs, desires, and vision for their future. Customized In Home Support staff provide comprehensive supports to clients living in their own homes or with family members. Integrated Community Employment provides ongoing services to persons with disabilities who could not otherwise maintain paid employment in regular, integrated work settings in the community. Services Provided: The Columbus Ben Archer Health Center BAHC site was established in 1998. Primary care service area for the BAHC in Columbus includes all communities in Luna County. Deming and Columbus are the larger population centers in Luna County. The primary care clinic is located at 626 Taft Street, an 8,000 square foot, modern medical facility that provides medical and dental services.Columbus, New Mexico, which is about 35-40 miles to the south of Deming, is a small rural community of approximately 1,475 residents located on the southern end of Luna County along the U.S./Mexico border. It's sister city, Puerto, Palomas, Chihuahua, Mexico is only three miles south of Columbus and has a larger population estimated at anywhere between 3,000 to 10,000 depending on whose estimates are used. These two isolated communities depend very closely upon one another, with both relying heavily on agriculture as the dominant economic force in the region. Due to their relative isolation and lack of infrastructure, resources are scarce on both sides of the border. Medical and dental services are offered to all individuals regardless of ability to pay. Transportation to medical appointments is available. Prescriptions are couried to the site through the main Pharmacy in Las Cruces.
