Services Provided: A Medicaid Waiver allows a state, such as New Mexico, to "waive" certain regulations governing certain types of Medicaid services, Medicaid provider requirements and eligibility requirements. A Medicaid Waiver is specifically designed to provide services reimbursable under Medicaid to a targeted population, who in the absence of the Waiver would require services in an institution. A combination of medical eligibility and financial eligibility determines an individual's eligibility for Waiver Programs.

Services Provided: The office of Accessibility Resource Center offers services to the University of New Mexico UNM self-identified students with disabilities. Students requesting support services from Accessibility Resource Center are required to submit documentation of a disability to verify eligibility under the Americans with Disabilities Act ADA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and the UNM Policy 2310. ADA defines a disability as a substantial limitation of a major life function. Students with documented disabling conditions that affect a major life activity are eligible for these services. This includes students with visual, hearing, learning, and mobility disabilities, and chronic conditions. The diagnostic report must document a disability. It is important to recognize that academic adjustment needs can change over time and are not always identified through the initial diagnostic process. Conversely, a prior history of accommodation, without demonstration of current need, does not in and of itself warrant the provision of a like accommodation. Submission of documentation is not the same as the request for services. Request for services and/or reasonable accommodations must be initiated by the student once he/she is admitted to UNM. The student must schedule an intake appointment with Accessibility Resource Center so that support services and reasonable accommodations may be discussed. Documentation will be reviewed by Accessibility Resource Center Documentation Committee prior to the appointment. Reasonable accommodations cannot be implemented until the student's documentation is complete. Accessibility Resource Center is responsible for the determination of reasonable accommodations. The primary duty is to help all students with disabilities gain equal opportunities throughout the campus community, with emphasis on education.
