Phone: 505-259-9583
Services Provided: Our MissionTo provide services that reduce cancer suffering for New Mexicos familiesOur VisionEvery New Mexican family will have access to the information, support, and resources that they need to cope with cancer. Our Core Values/Beliefs We are committed to addressing gaps in NMs cancer-related services. We focus on identifying gaps in NMs cancer-related services and developing programs to address them. We target our services on areas where we can have significant impact on cancer suffering in New Mexico. In particular, we focus on populations that are not adequately addressed by existing services. A cancer diagnosis impacts the entire family system. Our programs go beyond just supporting cancer patients/survivors, to include the family members, loved ones, and caregivers who are impacted by the disease. We work closely with other cancer services providers across the state to coordinate programs and minimize duplication of effort. We are a service organization, not a research organization or a fundraising foundation. We spend the vast majority of our funds delivering services directly to New Mexicans impacted by cancer. The spirit of volunteerism is critical to our success. Most of our Board Members and other volunteers have personal experience coping with cancer, they are committed to making a difference for others in similar situations. The extraordinary dedication of our volunteers allows us to operate unusually cost-effectively.

Equally important, La Fe has a long-standing history as a strong minority advocacy organization, which earned it the prestigious National Council of La Raza Affiliate of the Year 2000 Award. La Fe has also gained local, state, national, and international recognition for its innovation in non-traditional health promotion/disease prevention initiatives and educational programs that advance holistic wellness among predominately Mexican-American families. In 2001 for example, the Annie E. Casey Foundation selected La Fe as one of its Families Count National Honorees for its work in strengthening families. La Fe's growth has allowed it to evolve from a one-room tenement clinic, to a comprehensive community wellness network that continues to pursue its original mission statement: To improve the quality of life of those we serve by continuously enhancing the health and human services provided.
