The Indian Health Service, an agency within the Department of Health and Human Services , is responsible for providing federal health services to American Indians and Alaska Natives. A strategic goal of Indian Health Services is to promote excellence and quality through innovation of the Indian health system into an optimally performing organization. The services that the Mescalero Service Unit provides are as follows: laboratory, radiology, dentistry, optometry, outpatient care, inpatient care, diabetic clinic, women's health clinic, behavioral health and a pain clinic.
