Services Provided: The Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Program comprehensive care for the diagnosis and treatment of Blood Disorders and Cancer in children , adolescents and young adults. Our Program offers a multidisciplinary care team to deliver state-of-the-art care for children, adolescents and young adults facing childhood cancer. The team includes physicians, nurses, social workers, play therapists and clinical pharmacists. Both conventional and experimental childhood cancer treatment are available through our program's participation in clinical research protocols of the Children's Oncology Group and the University of New Mexico National Comprehensive Cancer Center. Our Program also offers diagnostic evaluation and comprehensive follow-up for the child with hematological non-malignant problems or coagulation disorders. The Division's Ted R. Montoya Hemophilia Program provides comprehensive care to the individual child and adult with hemophilia and other hereditary bleeding disorders. Outreach visits to the patients' hometowns are an important part of this program. The laboratory expertise needed to establish the correct diagnosis is an integral part of the program.

Services Provided: Survival of pediatric cancer has improved dramatically over the past 35 years. But for these children, surviving cancer treatment is only the beginning. Later in life, as many as half of the survivors of childhood cancer have, or are likely to develop, treatment related diseases and disabilities. This Program offers the opportunity for the survivor to better understand what they have experienced and to be well-informed about their future.
